Bonnet struts

Bonnet struts are the rods used to support your bonnet while you’re working on the engine, and tailgate struts are the small supports responsible for the smooth opening of your boot.
The hood is supported by a bonnet strut. These bonnet struts are similar to the struts you’ll find in your car’s suspension in that they are designed to help you lift the hood, then keep it open safely. And the mechanism may be deigned to either help open the hood, support it when it is open, or both.
